The faces of family
Raised by the women who are stronger than you know
A patchwork quilt of memory only women could have sewn
The threads were stitched by family hands, protected from the moth
By your mother and her mother, the weavers of your cloth.
— Mary Chapin Carpenter, Family Hands
March is Women’s History Month. And for the women of my family it is a time for remembrances. There are so many family birthdays in March… and so many anniversaries of loss. And today I’m simply going to let the faces tell the stories of the women of my family, the weavers of our cloth.
Judy, Just lovely! And amazing that so many events happened in March.
Thanks, Kay! You’d think the births might be due to June brides but nooooo, not these. And the deaths… Sigh…
Great post Judy. Looks like this is also your mtDNA line! I posted something similar showing my mtDNA and Y-DNA lines using as many photos as I had, at (Visualizing Your Genetic Genealogy. Your mtDNA line goes back further than mine, and there’s some nice longevity genes there too!
Thanks, Blaine! I can trace my maternal line back two more generations for sure and then have a problem between a first wife and a second. Still working on that one!
You’re mother looks like a movie star in that photo! Great set of photos to honor your family!
Thanks, Marian! My mother was always a beautiful woman.
