Cairns and Green Island
Okay, so The Legal Genealogist has absolutely no genealogical reason to be in North Queensland, Australia.
And, truth be told, hasn’t been thinking a whole lot about genealogy the past couple of days.
You may forgive me … the place has been a bit distracting… Starting with the boat ride over to Green Island from Cairns…
And what was waiting on the island side of the boat ride…
The amazingly lush vegetation in this rain forest growing up improbably on a sand cay…
Including the gorgeous Cooktown orchid of Queensland…
It’s a tough job, being a sightsee-er, but somebody has to do it…
It certainly looks idyllic, even to a semi-local. Qld Tourism should be paying you đŸ™‚
BTW it’s kind of weird having you in the same time zone…but in a good way đŸ™‚
Don’t get too used to it — I do have to go home next week!!
Judy — Your photos are absolutely gorgeous. Am enjoying them no end.
Thanks!
Did you snorkel the reef? Gotta snorkel the reef, it,s amazing! One of best experiences of my life.
Stand by on that one…
You gotta listen to this just once to make trip complete!
There’s an old Australian stockman lying, dying
And he gets himself up onto one elbow and he turns to his mates
Who are all gathered around and he says
Watch me wallabies feed, mate
Watch me wallabies feed
They’re a dangerous breed, mate
So watch me wallabies feed
Altogether now!
Tie me kangaroo down Sport…
An don’t go running amuck Judy,
just bring us a Koala back!
The Australian government might have a thing or three to say about a koala making the trip back with me!!
You need some time out…. to give your mind a holiday as well.
Today is pretty much a down day, but you hate to slow down too much while you’re in a place like this. I won’t fully process everything I saw until I get home.
