Our way of saying thanks
It’s the way the Board for Certification of Genealogists says “thank you” to the staff of the Family History Library each year.
When BCG’s Board of Trustees gathers in Salt Lake City for its semi-annual meeting each fall, we say “thank you” to the FHL through a series of free lectures.
And, thanks to the efforts of our webinar partner, Legacy Family Tree Webinars, those lectures are also our way of saying “thank you” to the entire genealogical community.
So, tomorrow, Friday, October 19th, starting at 9 a.m. Mountain time, five free lectures will be given at the Family History Library free to all FHL staff — and anyone else who happens to be in Salt Lake City at the time.
And, tomorrow, starting at 9 a.m. Mountain time, all five lectures will be broadcast free, recorded and available free for a time, and then available forever in the BCG library at Legacy Family Tree Webinars.
Here’s the line-up, starting at 9:00 a.m. Mountain daylight time (MDT) and running through to 4:30 p.m. MDT, on Friday, October 19, 2018:
• 9:00-10:00 a.m. MDT – “Past Conflict Repatriation: The Role of Genealogists and Methodology in Fulfilling Our Nation’s Promise,” presented by Jeanne Larzalere Bloom, CG
• 10:30-11:30 a.m. MDT – “Deeper Analysis: Techniques for Successful Problem Solving,” presented by Elissa Scalise Powell, CG, CGL
• 1:00-2:00 p.m. MDT – “John Jacob Kramer: Case Study of Mistaken Identity among Revolutionary War Soldiers”, presented by Rebecca Whitman Koford, CG, CGL
• 2:15-3:15 p.m. MDT – “Using Indirect and Negative Evidence to Prove Unrecorded Events,” presented by Thomas W. Jones, PhD, CG, CGL
• 3:30-4:30 MDT – “The Discriminating Genealogist: Telling Good Evidence from Bad,” presented by yours truly, Judy G. Russell, JD, CG, CGL
You can go to www.FamilyTreeWebinars.com/BCG to sign up individually, or go to this link here to sign up for more than one of the lectures at once.
We hope you can join us as we at BCG say “thank you” to the Family History Library and its staff!
Judy, just so I understand: The sessions begin live in Salt Lake City at 9 a.m. Mountain time (11 a.m. Eastern), and the sessions are available free online at the same time? Are they presented live tomorrow and recorded for later viewing at FamilyTreeWebinars?
Oops! Found the info on your blog site.
Great series of lectures, especially that last one. You certainly have a gift for making complicated things look straightforward. I also thoroughly enjoyed the mistaken identity presentation (John Jacob Kramer Case Study).
Are the lectures aregoing to be made available to non-members for replay for a time? If so, I highly recommend them.
All Legacy Family Tree Webinars are available for several days for free to anyone, so yes indeed.
